Del Mar show showcases Arabian's beauty, versatility

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

Desert Arabian Horse Association and the Tierra Del Norte Arabian Horse Association will feature the beautiful Arabian horse at the Fiesta Del Mar Arabian Horse Show scheduled for the San Diego County Fairgrounds in Del Mar from April 5-8.
Both clubs have once again partnered with Casa de Amparo, a charity in San Diego providing services for abused and neglected children.
Fiesta Del Mar and Casa de Amparo have joined forces to produce one of the largest Arabian horse shows in San Diego County. Held in the historic San Diego County Fairgrounds in Del Mar, hundreds of purebred and part-bred Arabian horses will compete in almost 400 different classes, including Native Costume, Reining and Dressage.
"This is an opportunity to showcase the beauty and the versatility of the Arabian horse and to demonstrate the relationship between the horse exhibitors and their wonderful four-legged friends," said Faye Hall, immediate past-president of the Tierra Del Norte Arabian Horse Association. "The show committee is thrilled to be working with such a well-respected and meaningful charity."
The public is welcome to attend this free event. The show will start Thursday, April 5, at 8 a.m. and continue through Sunday, April 8. For more information and a complete schedule of classes, contact JoAnn Harlan at 789-2955 or calipsomon@aol.com.
Fiesta Del Mar is proud to once again be a part of the T.A.I.L. Program, or Total Arabian Interaction & Learning Program. Youth groups and families can make an appointment with a knowledgeable volunteer who will meet them at the show and introduce them to the wonderful Arabian horse.
T.A.I.L. participants will learn about showing and what the judges are looking for and will be taken back to the barns to meet some Arabian horses up-close and personal. For more information, contact Mimi Gaffey at 760-518-6745 or gaffey@cox.net.
A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit Casa de Amparo, based in Oceanside. Casa provides shelter and care for abused, neglected and abandoned children from newborn to 18 years old throughout San Diego County. Casa de Amparo was established in 1978 in California as a nonprofit public benefit corporation.
The Desert Arabian Horse Association and the Tierra Del Norte Arabian Horse Association have both been in existence in San Diego for more than 40 years promoting and educating people about the world's oldest domestic breed of horse, the Arabian.
